I don't think I've lost any productivity without natural language input. In terms of natural language input, I used to turn that off in Todoist because it kept making dates in the todo into due dates even though I didn't want them as due dates. The blocker is the learning curve, and if you don't dedicate yourself to it you likely won't transition over. I recommend you block out at least 2 full days to get comfortable with OF, setting it up how you like, and then spend another X days to transfer your data. I always come back to OF (since kgtd) because it can pretty much do whatever I want 99% of the time. I've had deep usage with Todoist, Things 2/3, Asana, and hacked systems like Evernote, Emacs, Workflowy, paper, etc. On days where I'm doing very little data entry into OF (again, its weakspot compared to Todoist), and just going through my perspectives.I find there's very little friction. Tags, Projects, and Custom Perspectives – once created to your preference – can create a near-effortless experience. And of course its banner features all encourage surfacing tasks only when you need to see them. I find it well-suited for brain-dumping (either in the Inbox, or in notes, if you prefer). That being said, I would encourage at least trying OmniFocus. Personally I've just gotten used to tabbing between the fields I know I want. Their method for "quick entry" is good, but dated. Natural language input has been a long-requested feature that still isn't in OmniFocus. There's a lot of ways to use OF, but I've found a system that give me the dexterity I need to plan both multi-month goals, and hour-by-hour to-dos. I use OmniFocus for projects big and small, long- and short-term. This would be true of switching to or from any system – not just Todoist and OF. But any consideration for switching has been muted by my distaste for re-learning a new system (to say nothing of migrating existing projects). I've never used Todoist, though having heard many good things about it, I've considered it. And the mental cost of switching is sure to be high. Momentum of what you're familiar with can be a really strong thing. 1pm to be executed at 3pm.Īs OmniFocus users, may I ask for some opinions on this situation, please? However, I am a bit anxious to (1) lose dexterity with OmniFocus (in terms of inputting tasks), and (2) will lose the ability and comfort of adding even the smallest task that I think of at e.g.
